Spring Blush : Bourjois 12 Hour Aqua Blush

I love the cheeky deals Boots throw at us every now and again. I picked this up for free on a promo and to be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but it really has become one of my favourite blushes.

The Bourjois 12 Hour Aqua Blush claims to 'boost your skin's natural radiance with sheer, fresh colour' and for me it does just that.

The pump means that you get just the right amount of product - 1 pump is more than enough for both cheeks. The colour can initially be quite daunting, but as soon as you smooth it out it sheers to a gorgeous glow.

I chosen the shade Berry Nice, which is a perfect healthy flush on my pale skin, but I do think it would suit pretty much any complexion.

It feels a little mousse like - much more liquid than your average cream blush and it doesn't set down to a powder finish, but more of a dewy glow. It works great over makeup of even straight on bare skin, if your're opting for a minimal makeup day. It really brightens up the entire face.

I'm not sure about the 12 Hour claims because my oily skin doesn't allow makeup to stay on anyway, but it does do a pretty good job of sticking around.

I'd like to see more shades in this range - there's only 4 at the moment with not much difference between them. A highlight shade in the formula would be really great, too!

Come on Bourjois!

Upping my brow game with MAC

Are you sitting down? Because this might be a tough one for you to believe. Please don't judge me, but up until this purchase, I didn't own anything from MAC.

I KNOW. Who even am I?!

Am I even qualified to be a beauty blogger?

I think because I've always found what I need in the drugstore, it's only on the rare occasion I'll venture into the land of high end beauty - I've dabbled abit recently and I'm beginning to get hooked. Could be the start of an even more expensive habit.

Anyway, without any previous research or much thought, I decided to pick up MAC eyebrows in the shade Brunette, and I'm really glad I did.

I love mechanic pencils like this, no messing about sharpening , you just twist and you're ready to go. BUT, and this is a big BUT - it doesn't retract which is a big issue for me. How do you know when you're nearly out of product? God forbid I get one eyebrow perfect and run out before I complete the other. Well it'd actually be hilarious, but still.

The formula is a good mix of creamy and waxy. It glides on and the tiny nib helps to create the tiniest of hair strokes, but it dries quick enough that you're not going to accidentally smudge half your brow off throughout the day.

I quite happy with my purchase, and for £14 its quite reasonably priced.

But - keep your eyes peeled for a post on its way for another eyebrow pencil I've been loving recently. Just as good for for less than half the price.

Self Esteem

If I'm honest, this post is more a kick up the arse for myself in a way, because everything I'm going to write about are all things I need to embrace in my everyday life.

Self esteem is something I think that is challenged on a daily basis. Be it the media, your crush or some faceless internet troll. Every now and again something will smack bang slap us in the face and make us doubt our identity, our relationships and even our worth.

Self esteem is so important to our everyday health, and everyone feels abit shitty about themselves at some point in their life. But I find culture nowadays wants to drag people down, just to make themselves feel better.

So when you're feeling like you want to run away and live in the woods, what do you do?

STOP COMPARING YOURSELF. Despite what Instagram and Pinterest might show, no ones life is perfect. Comparing yourself to other peoples mis-representations of their own loves isn't effective. When we compare, we only compare our 'bad' traits, and highlighting this to yourself over and over isn't going to help you become the person who you want to be, or achieve the life that you want to live, it's only going to stop you from taking the steps to get there.

Ever stop to think if it matters if you're carrying a few pounds more than that girl? Or that her teeth are that bit whiter and straighter than yours? What about the difference you made in the world today? The help you gave your colleague to make their life abit easier, or the smile you gave to a stranger that brightened their day? We never highlight our good bits - just what we perceive as our bad bits.

Still not working? Then change. Now I'm not telling you to all go and get lipo or get that nose straightened up, but if your 'flaws' are really getting you down that much, do something about it. I'm on the heftier side of the BMI scale, extremely irritable and grumpy and I'm having more breakouts at 25 than I did in all my teenage years combined - all things that add to my low self esteem but all things that I'm working on to change. Not because anyone else told me to, because I know it'll make me happy. You'll find ways to embrace your flaws and eventually they'll become things you love about yourself.

Find yourself. Now I know I've turned up the cheese factor to 1000 here, but it's really important to know exactly who you are. How can you be completely content and happy with yourself if you don't know who you are? What do you stand for? Who influences your decisions - and why? Do things with the people you love & on your own  - you'll come to appreciate your own company and love yourself a little bit more.

I hope this post helps. I'm going to be setting myself some challenges to improve myself in ways to make me happy.

Shine bright like a diamond! Birchbox February 2016

I'm gonna get right to it - this months box is uh-may-zing. I'd held off looking at the spoilers for this months box because I always end up getting excited and then end up being disappointed, but this month, I got everything I could have ever asked for.

This months theme was 'Shine bright like a diamond' because some lucky bugger had a diamond necklace worth £200 in their box (sadly this wasn't me) but the excitement of what I received in this months box definitely gave me a twinkle in my eye.

Here's what I got in this months box:

Spectrum Tapered Powder Brush
LOC Shadow Stick in Champagne
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum
Ayres Body Butter in Patagonia
the Balm Cosmetics Frat Boy Blush & Shadow

2 Full size products this month, wow! I love it when you get a good mix of skincare and beauty, as well as some hyped up brands to try out!

I couldn't wait to try some of these products out and some have already made it into my daily routine.

The product I was most excited to try had to be the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster. I'm really into skincare at the moment and I've seen loads about this brand floating around the web. I'm using it daily and already seeing a difference - keep your eyes peeled for a full review.

I've also had my eyes on the Balm Frat Boy blush for some time, so was super excited when this cute mini dropped through my door. It's super pigmented and adds a gorgeous coraly glow to the cheeks! Not sure about it as an eyeshadow, but you never know!

The Spectrum tapered powder brush is what I've been using to apply the blush to the apples of my cheeks - wow this brush is smooth! With the bristles being so brightly coloured I was expecting them to be quite plasticy feeling but boy was I wrong. It's really well priced too for the quality. Definitely going to be picking some more of these up!

I haven't got round to trying the LOC Shadow Stick yet but this isn't a colour I currently have in my collection, so it's a very welcome addition. The Ayres body butter is nice - but I think I'll stick to my body shop body butter for now!

I've been thinking of cancelling Birchbox for a while now and heading over to the Cohorted Beauty Box, but I think I'll give Birchbox another month or two after this little beauty.

What did you think about this months box?

Review: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper
Now, one of my beauty resolutions for 2016 is to practice and perfect the cat eye liner. I know, as if I can't do it already?! But we can't all be perfect at everything, now, can we?

I've tried many types of liner over the years, all leaving me with chunky lines, flakiness and an overall dopey look. From gels to kohl pencils, I've never been able to find anything that works for me - until now.
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper

The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner has a felt tip tapered very thinly at one end, which allows for a slow and precise application. The fact that the nib is so thin on one end is perfect for a learner like me - it allows for only small mistakes to be made and easily rectified. As I've gotten more cocky, the more pressure applied allows for a thicker line and a quicker finish needed to perfectly finish off the flick.

The shade trooper is a true black that doesn't fade, flake or transfer - but comes off easily with cleanser at the end of the day.

Now I'm definitely not a pro - but this has massively improved my eyeliner game. Practice certainly does make perfect.

Review: Brazillian Keratin Shampoo and Conditioner

OGX Brazillian Keratin Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Since going blonde last year, my hair has required much more maintenance and what better place to start looking after your hair than shampoo & conditioner. I've always wanted to try something from OGX and I managed to pick up these two on offer at the super market. They're abit more expensive that your average shampoo & conditioner, but well worth it.

I picked up the Brazillian Keratin Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner in the hope that I wouldn't need to heat style my hair as much and I have to say, this definitely helped.

Infused with coconut oil, keratin proteins, avocado oil and cocoa butter, this shampoo and conditioner combo claims to strengthen and soften the hair whilst smoothing out the hair cuticles to create a sleek and straight appearance.

This shampoo & conditioner duo give the most luxurious feel to each and every shower time. A gorgeous scent which lingers for even days after, a nourishing formula that leaves the hair feeling silky and smooth but most importantly for my bleached hair, it helps the tangles fall out easily with no damage to my hair at all. It leaves the hair feeling clean but not stripped, nourished but not weighed down and smooth but not limp.

I'll definitely be trying out more from the OGX range.
