Perfect Dewy Skin Base...

I've been struggling with oily skin recently. I'm not sure why but my makeup doesn't like to stay around for a full day anymore. For oily skin types, you'd normally reach for mattifiers but I hate flat looking skin. You want a complexion that's glowy and dewy but not oily- and I've managed to find the products that make it happen for me.

Both with 'Luminous' in their name, this base combo helps me to combat my oily patches whilst making me lit from within.

I'll start off with the Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer. A little of this worked into the skin creates an almost tacky base ready for the next step. Leaving the skin looking glowing without having any small specs of glitter like some other lumnious bases out there, this primer leaves skin prepped and ready for foundation.

The Maxfactor Skin Luminizer foundation gives medium coverage without feeling cakey or heavy on the skin, blends beautifully and leave a subtle glow. Covering all redness and mattifying any oily patches, this foundation is my go to when I'm looking for a luminous finish. It photographs well too!

January 2016 Birchbox!

You missed out on a review of Decembers Birchbox because I was being a sloppy blogger, but to summarise - IT WAS AWESOME. So January's box had a pretty hard one to follow.

This months box collaborated with one of my favourite ever things - Pinterest. I'm absolutely addicted to Pinterest (follow me here). I pin food, beauty, fashion - pretty much anything that looks pretty! Anyway, keeping the theme in mind, here's what I got in this months box!

They're Real Tinted Primer - Value £6.50
Jelly Pong Pong Lighten Up Brightener - Value £14.95
Cowshed Gorgeous Cow Blissful Body Lotion - Value £6.60
Parlor Moistursing Shampoo - Value £2.03
Parlor Conditioner - Value £0.81
Absolution L'Eau Soir Et Martin - Value £5.40

Bonus - Pinterest inspired postcards
             Compact Mirror Value £4

Overall Box Value - £40 ish.

This month is an OK box. I'm not blown away or particularly excited to use anything specific, but I do know I'll use each and every product in the box. I've never heard of Jelly Pong Pong before, so the brightener will be interesting to try. It has no glitter (which I really don't like in highlighters) and apparently just leaves behind a subtle glow. I love a subtle glow.

I've heard mixed reviews about the Benefit They're Real Tinted primer, so It'll be nice to give it a go myself and see what I think of it.

What did you get in your box this month?

I'm considering signing up to the monthly Cohorted Beauty Box, what do you think?

Thanks for reading :)

Mani Monday : Reverse French Manicure (Sort of!)

It's been a really long time since I've made any considerable effort with my nails - I've just never got the time. But as part of my new years resolution, I've decided to ensure I schedule in some 'me time', because lord knows (as does the other half) I'm moody if I don't get some me time.

I've been fascinated by nail art recently - I've been following loads of amazing accounts over on Instagram. Where do you get the stickers that help you along with nail designs? I don't mean decals, I want the ones that you paint over and peel off. If any one knows, leave me a comment with a link!

Anyway, I thought I needed a little more sparkle in my life recently and was inspired by the half moon reverse mani trend that I grabbed the Ciate glitter in the shade Razzmatazz for my highlight in this mani. It was the first time using this polish and I was impressed. You don't need multiple layers to get an opaque effect which is good for drying time. The only thing is it can be abit grainy and the texture shows up slightly underneath the other polish - but I'm sure I'll get better with practice.

The gorgeous plum shade is Divine Wine from Maybellines Super Stay 7 Day Gel Nail Colour range. I love this range, but most of all I love this colour. It's not too girly, not too vampy and it's the perfect shade for this time of year.

Overall, I'm happy with the look. I definitely need to work at smoothing out the glitter and getting some stronger lines, but for my first attempt freehand, I think I did a pretty good job.

What's on your nails today?

Review: Peaches and Clean

This year is going to be all about skincare for me. I started off last year quite well then as the months went on and it got darker and it was harder to get out of bed in the morning, my skincare routine began to slide. I tell you, as soon as pay day hits, I'll be stocking up on a load of my skincare favourites, as well as some new bits.

But I won't need to stock up on this for a while, because it seems to be lasting me bloody ages!

The Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean Deep Cleansing Milk claims to be a gentle yet effective way of removing makeup after a long hard day. It claims to be rich in vitamins and antioxidants and whilst cleansing says it can rejuvenate skin. And to be honest, I can't disagree.

This silky milk removes my makeup with ease - even waterproof mascara. It's got a gorgeous scent, perfect to begin a mini evening pamper session.

I rub this into dry skin in circular motions, buffing away all of my makeup and any other gunk build up from the day. I then take it all off with a hot flannel. My face is left completely clean, soft and feeling slightly moisturised. There's definitely a glow with this that I haven't had with other cleansers.

A solid favourite for removing my makeup.

I've had this for a good couple of months now and barely made a dint in the product, so £8, this is a real bargain!

Best of 2015

Long time no speak. I know, I know. I haven't blogged in such a long time and I haven't really got much of an excuse, other than life just got in the way. I'm more organised and more motivated at the moment, so expect lots of blog posts from me from now on.

I love this types of posts - I always end up with a long list of products to purchase. Here's my favourite products of 2015.

Abit of a boring one to start, but a staple in most beauty lovers kits. Garnier brought Micellar water to the UK market at an affordable price point, and you can pick it up pretty much anywhere. Rivaling French pharmacy favourites for half the price, this little of water can remove even the toughest of water proof mascara with ease. This stuff massively helped me avoid going to sleep in my makeup on them lazy days because it's so quick and easy to use.

Next up, another skincare fave. The La Roche Posay Serozinc. This is one of them products that you don't realise is working until you stop using it. It works to purify and tackle blemishes, tones and controls any excess oils. I've noticed my skin is much clearer using this, with less redness and much more of an even skin tone.

Something I discovered this year was the Maybelline Super Stay 7 Day Gel Nail Colour. This stuff is amazing. The shade range is perfect, wear time is great and shine rivals professional manicures. I'll definitely be picking up more shades this year!

A lip favourite of mine this year, so much so that I'm nearly all out, is my Bite Beauty Lip Crayon in Meritage. This has the most moisturising formula, is easy to apply even without a mirror and is a gorgeous my lips but better shade. I need to pick some more of these up - anyone know where stocks these in the UK?

My Easy Tease hair brush is just perfection - especially now my hair is blonde and much harder to brush. A bargain at £1.99, I would never be without it.

A palette I have picked up over and over again in 2015 is my Stila In The Light palette. A mix of neutral matte and shimmer shades this is the perfect palette for day and night looks. Buttery soft, highly pigmented. Love it.

I picked up the Palmers coconut body lotion on a whim and didn't realise how much I would fall in love with it. Infused with coconut oil, this provides a massive moisture boost to the skin - sinks in quickly and leaves a gorgeous scent.

Being a drugstore girl at heart, this was quite the splurge for me, but it was so worth it. The Clarins Instant light concealer provides just that - instant light. Perfect for under eye bags.

My fragrance favourite have changed this yeah - I've fallen in love with Gucci Flora. Much girlier than my normal preference, this lingers on the skin all day. When I'm wearing this, you'll see me having a sneaky sniff of myself every now and again!

Last but not least is one of my most recent finds - Lush Snow Angel. Now, I love Lush bath melts, but it's taken me a while to try this out - mainly because of the glitter. BUT it's not actually that bad. Once you've seen past the odd spec in the bath, you're left with a gorgeous spa like experience, with added moisture from the essential oils, you're skin feels silky smooth with no need to moisturise after.

That's my top 10 for 2015 - I'm looking forward to discovering more in 2016!
