1. It's hard work
Up until really recently, I'd been pretty good with a blog schedule. Posting 3 times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday and It didn't really take up much of my time. Recently though, life's gotten abit hectic, with my a new house, new job and a social life, finding the time really isn't easy. And I've been suffering from writers block for quite a while too. Many people think that beauty blogging is simply 'this pink lipstick is soooo nice, go buy it'. But it isn't like that at all. It takes thought, effort, editing to put it all together. Something I definitely underestimated at first.
2. It's also really amazing
Blogging has brought out a new side to me. To see things differently, to learn more, to appreciate life more and be thankful for the privileged position im in in life. It's given me confidence, and made me realise I'm not alone, and that representations of women in the media really aren't what we should aspire too, because it's just not reality.
3.(Some) girls are bitches
Wow, so girls are catty. I've seen people be so rude and hateful online to other bloggers that it does make me not want to put my face out there.
4...but also really amazing too
But for the most part, the #bblogger community is pretty freaking amazing. We uplift each other, inspire and boost confidence. Shame about the small minority who ruin it for the rest of us!
5. Cheap really can be quite cheerful
When I first started blogging, I thought no one would read my blog, everyone wants to see nice pictures of high end makeup, not drugstore. But not all of us are on amazing wages, have rich parents or want to spend loads of cash on beauty when there's often a cheaper alternative things in the drugstore. When I try, I can make myself look pretty done up just from drugstore brands.
6. It's ok to give myself a break every now and again
Something I've had to embrace recently. So what if I miss a post? I'm pretty sure you lot aren't going to never read me again just because I didn't post on Monday. It really isn't the end of the world. Something I need to embrace at home too.
7. Beauty isn't everything
I'm really not sure why it's drummed in our heads by the media / boys / Disney that women are defined by their beauty. Look, I'm no Kim K, but neither is she without any makeup on. Yeah, I love wearing makeup and looking pretty, but I do it for me, no one else. My other half barely sees me in makeup, because I don't wear it to impress anyone. And if someone thinks I'm ugly, who cares? Cause I don't.
8. Everyone has bad days
No ones life is like their Instagram profile. Bloody hell it would be expensive lifestyle if it were.
9. Life isn't 'one size fits all'
Just because something works for someone else, doesn't mean that it will for you. Most people my age love to go on nights out at the weekend, whereas I'm happy to get my feet up and watch TV. Some people have a much better temper than I do, or a different attitude towards life. That's fine, but it's not the same for everybody.
10. It's ok to be unique
There's no point in blending in with the crowd, you'll never get noticed. Wether that's with guys, I'm blogging or in job interviews, being unique and different will get you much, much further than being a sheep.
