Black Eyeliner Alternatives

Alternatives to black eyeliner

As a rather 'Pale Gail', I find it quite difficult to wear eyeliner that doesn't make me look like a goth gone wrong. Whilst black does look amazing on most people, on me it tends to dull my entire face, make my eyes look sleepier than they are and ultimately at some point I'll end up with panda eyes.

Because of this, I've been on the hunt for eyeliner alternatives - something to give my eyes an extra bit of 'WOW' but that isn't going to drown them out.

Here's what I came up with!

If you're a regular reader of blogs, there's no way that you haven't heard of these pencils before. This one is double ended with a gorgeous blacker than black shade on the other side, but I'm all about Rockstar. This deep metallic smokey purple works amazingly well on my eyes. Dark enough to create a sexy smudged out look, but not too harsh against my pale skin. The formula is super creamy so you have the chance to blend it out if you really wanted - although a statement cat eye is gorgeous in this! The staying power is amazing too. The best of the bunch! Although, this is a pretty good bunch!

I'm pretty gutted that I can't find you guys a link to this online - looks like it may have been discontinued! But this is another absolute stunner. Maybe a little bit drier and harder to work with than the Urban Decay liner, but nonetheless an amazing eyeliner. It's gorgeous plum colour is an interesting spin on a classic cat eye. It adds great definition a little something extra to your overall look.

This is another amazing find - the brush, shade and staying power makes this an automatic repurchase in my eyes. For me, this dark brown shade is perfect. It takes what would be quite a dramatic look and tones it down to something that can be worn every day. The applicator brush makes it so so so easy to create a perfect cat eye flick with nearly no practice needed! LOVE IT!

This is the most subtle out of the bunch, and creates gorgeous definition with a barely there feel. Taupe shades work wonders at doing this, you can create a gorgeous, yet natural eye makeup look every time you reach for it. For a drugstore eye liner, at £3.99, the staying power is great! And its super creamy and easy to work with.

So there you have it. My favorite alternative eyeliners! Some for day, some for night.

Do you have any eyeliner recommendations for pale skins? Let me know in the comments!
